Testimony continued in the jury trial of a Lima man accused of robbing a bank 2022. 38-year-old Brandon Allen, Sr. is facing an aggravated robbery charge and repeat violent offender specification after police say on March 8th of 2022, a bank robber handed the teller at the Union Bank on Bellefontaine Ave. a note demanding money. He got away with more than $3,000 dollars in cash.
A man accused of raping a teenage girl tries to get a new trial date and a new lawyer. 31-year-old Cornelius Ware Jr.'s new trial date has been pushed back until August to give his lawyer time to prepare. His trial was originally set to begin on May 10th.Â
20-year-old Jonathon Brown was sentenced Monday in Allen County Common Pleas Court. Brown was arrested after he set a bed on fire while a woman, he was in a relationship with, was sleeping in it. He was originally indicted on aggravated arson but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge.
Judge Jeffrey Reed dismissed the murder charge against Na’zier Howard Friday morning. Prosecutors filed a different murder charge against him in Allen County Juvenile Court. Howard was 17-year-old in December of 2019 when Kevonta Cowan was found with a gunshot wound on Kenilworth Avenue. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Howard was indicted on aggravated murder in 2021 for Cowan's death.
58-year-old James Spears pleaded guilty to five counts of gross sexual imposition before his trial was set to start in February. Five other counts were dropped as part of the plea deal. He admitted to having sexual contact with two female victims under 13 years old multiple times starting in 2014.Â
On day two of the trial, family members of the victim took to the stand, as well as medical experts that examined the young girl. After the testimony, Judge Terri Kohlrieser ruled that Boedicker is guilty of three counts each of rape and sexual battery charges for having sexual contact with a young girl when she was 10 years old in 2018 and again in 2021 when she was 12. Boedicker took the stand and said that the victim's family members were forcing the girl to make the allegations against him. He will be sentenced at a later date.
A Lima man who was found guilty of killing his girlfriend’s son, will not get his appeal heard by the Ohio Supreme Court.
Rawlins was arrested in May on one count of rape after a victim says that she was spending time with Rawlins in his home when he allegedly forced himself on her. The most recent indictment says that the alleged incident happened in September of 2020. No trial date has been set, his lawyer says they need more time to get through the 500 pages of discovery in the latest case. Plus, they are looking to hire a DNA expert for the trial.
The indictment by the grand jury says that the incident happened on July 1st. Lima police officers served a warrant at Luckett's home the same day, where they found marijuana, $15,000 in cash, and three guns. As part of the plea deal, Luckett will surrender the cash and the firearms to the Lima Police Department. In exchange, there will be no drug charges brought against him.Â
38-year-old Chrystian Coronado has until October 29th to accept the deal prosecutors offered for guilty pleas for burglary and felonious assault charges. As part of the plea deal, a gun specification will be dropped on the burglary charge. According to the indictments, each charge is a separate incident.
