Allen East sixth graders in a math intervention class raised $979 for the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio through a creative “Math-A-Thon” fundraiser. Students collected pledges based on the number of math problems they answered correctly, combining academics with community service.

The Allen East Robotics Team gave a sneak peek of their inventions Monday evening. Allen East 5th through 9th grade students involved with the robotics team displayed their robotic creations to board and family members as they prepare for their national competition in April.
Lifewise Academy held their 2nd annual 5K run in Elida. The program gives students, with their parents’ permission, the chance to spend less than an hour during the school day learning about religion and the bible. Elida Elementary will be starting their second year with the program and Allen East and Spencerville will be beginning their first.
They were on the governor's list of the top dangerous intersections in the state and just over 4 million dollars in funding was made possible to change that. The final striping is being done at the Napoleon Road and State Route 309 and paving is being completed at the Thayer Road and State Route 309 roundabout. Allen East Superintendent Mel Rentschler says that residents in the area have been asking that something be done for years. He says there have been too many times he has run out from the office to assist with serious crashes.
