Allen County Museum board members expressed their gratitude to students from Apollo’s Construction Equipment Technology class for their hard work on the property, which required more repairs than museum volunteers could handle.
The Shawnee Optimist Club holding their annual Honor and Achievement Luncheon. The awards are to recognize individuals who have shown their desire to be role models and leaders not only in the classroom but also in their communities. Students from Apollo, Shawnee, Lima Central Catholic and Perry High Schools were honored.
The career center held their 4-1-1 Blast Friday, for the students from their 11 member school districts. The students got to visit 2 of the 22 programs that Apollo currently has to offer. They were also able to do some hands-on activities, plus talk to students and instructors about the programs, including a new program that will be starting next year for the high school students.
Down Auglaize St. is a celebration that feels out of this world. Every year, Wapakoneta likes to pay tribute to their hometown hero Neil Armstrong with the Summer Moon Festival. After seeing over 20,000 people here for the 50th-anniversary festival, and a small crowd for last year's scaled-down events, everyone is ready for celebrations to be back to normal.
As part of Trauma Awareness Month, workers with Mercy Health St. Rita's trauma and life flight teams came to the Apollo career center to teach a "Stop the Bleed" course. Stop the Bleed is an initiative to prevent a person with an injury from losing too much blood, ultimately limiting deaths from violent injuries. After sitting through the course today, the students will be Stop the Bleed certified.
Nearly two dozen packages were waiting to be shipped out from Apollo filled with toiletries and treats for some lucky Apollo alumni service men and women. Every year, the social studies teacher Melissa Roll coordinates sending the care packages and the items are donated by students and staff at the school.
For the class’s “Education Day”, they were invited to Apollo to talk with the superintendent and get a tour of the school. With over 700 attending students at Apollo, they were able to see the hands-on teaching that makes the school so unique.
As people everywhere try to congratulate the graduating class of 2020 the best they can, the seniors at Ada and Apollo high school get a special display downtown.
If you’ve taken a stroll down Main St. in Ada you might have noticed the banners with smiling faces on them lining the street. This is thanks to these two moms who wanted to make sure every senior bulldog at Ada high school got the recognition they deserved.
