Even though crews have been working on the site for a couple of months now, President Biden, Governor Mike DeWine, and other Ohio federal lawmakers were on hand for the ceremony in New Albany, Ohio. Funding for the facility was approved through the Chips and Science Act. Along with speaking about the success of passing that bill, Mr. Biden also remarked on the need to rebuild and increase America's manufacturing capacity.

Jordan also talked about the continuing investigation into the FBI serving a search warrant on former president Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home a month ago.

Jordan spoke to the Wapakoneta Rotary during their weekly meeting, and he started with the FBI serving search warrant at former president Donald Trump's Florida home. The warrant was part of an investigation into government documents that Trump had from his time as president. Jordan says there needs to be some questions answered by the director of the FBI and the U.S. attorney general about the search warrants, like why they waited 18 months to serve them if investigators knew the documents were at the Mar-a-Lago residences.

President Biden is looking at lifting the health order Title 42, which allows the United States to deny entry to immigrants during the COVID outbreak. Portman says around half of the unlawful immigrants were turned away because of Title 42. He wants the Biden administration to reconsider lifting the order and come up with a plan to deal with the illegal immigrants and drugs that cross the Southern border.

President Biden has called for eliminating the stepped-up basis tax provision that is used when family-owned farms and small businesses get taken over by their heirs. Latta says that a stepped-up basis is a long-running provision in the tax code that prevents the next generation from paying capital gains tax on inherited assets like land, equipment, or buildings. Latta and over 70 other congressmen signed a law to stop the ending of stepped-up basis.

An Ohio senator says other NATO nations need to follow the U.S. in cutting ties with Russian energy.  In a press conference this week, Senator Rob Portman encouraged President Biden to talk with his NATO colleagues to convince them to embargo the Russian energy.  He says that U.S. producers can play a key role in not only supporting our domestic energy security, but also supporting our allies overseas transition away from their reliance on Russian energy.
