Every year, the campus of Ohio Northern University sees local students interested in music journey to Ada for their annual summer music camp. Our Casey Mulcahy tells us how the campus has been filled with smiles and the sounds of music. School might be out for the summer, but this group of students is fine-tuning their music skills thanks to the annual summer music camp at Ohio Northern University. For one week, local students come for the symphonic band program and the acapella choir program, with many small subgroups to be a part of.

Elida Local Schools have been honored with the “Best Communities for Music Education” designation from The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Elida Schools answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
