It is an opportunity for dads to show their little girls how a lady should be treated. This year marks the 14th Father-Daughter Dance and it has grown every year. It started in the community room and now is hosted in the gymnasium where it's decked out with a DJ spinning the tunes and dads and daughters showing their moves on the dance floor. Organizers say it is heartwarming to see the bonds between the fathers and their little girls.
Rosanna Mersereau, Grayson's Mom explains, “We got here around 5 am, and then got admitted, and started down this journey. So, by 9:15 last night we had little Grayson. We got to introduce him to the outside world.”
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Another teen was indicted for the June murder of 17-year-old Jaden Halpern.
Area preschoolers and their families gathered at the McElroy Educational Center to enjoy the changing of the season. This edition of "Nature Pals" included plenty of hands-on activities, a chance to read a book, and a group sit down to learn about what changes the children are seeing this time of year. Parents enjoy bringing the kids out and one dad got his first taste of "Nature Pals".
It definitely didn’t sound like sleigh bells, but it was traveling around West Central Ohio to help Santa put smiles on the faces of kids at Christmas Time. ABATE OHIO Region 3 held their 37th annual Toy Run Sunday afternoon. Over 230 motorcycles crisscrossed Allen County to help raise money to buy presents for kids. Last year, they raised around $18,000 to help provide gifts to over 100 kids. Besides the run there were auction items, a raffle, and other fundraising going on at the fairgrounds to help as many children as possible this Christmas.
The second session of head start begins on Monday, September 12th which includes some of the county locations where the program is offered. Administrators say they work with families and are focusing on how to get dads in the classroom with their children.
The Lima Rotary Club handed out another round of scholarships to 14 individuals each receiving $1,000 for the fall of 2022. They are pursuing higher education in a variety of fields and attending several educational institutions in the region. These students are considered non-traditional because life has thrown them a curve ball and college has had to wait.
