“For the engineering division, what we would like to see is different strategies to know better what concerns residents have, and just have different approaches because one size doesn't fit all,” said Ian Kohli, City of Lima engineer.
The document includes a comprehensive list of transportation-related projects across Lima and Allen County. This year, a new interactive dashboard has been introduced to help residents learn more about the more than $10 million worth of projects scheduled in the region.
The City of Lima is making some modifications after hearing from the public. The proposed changes are to a half-mile of Cable Road. Due to the number of crashes along Cable Road from Latham to College Park West, safety improvements need to be made. After a public meeting in March 2024, the city has made a few adjustments to the design by adding an additional lane from Windsor Drive to College Park West. The proposed center median is still the best alternative for eliminating cross-traffic issues.
Residents had the chance on Tuesday night to give their feedback to the City of Lima ahead of a reconstruction project. The feedback is in relation to the Catalpa and Holmes Reconstruction Project within the Jefferson Manor Subdivision. The nearly $2 million project would reconstruct existing roadway on Catalpa Avenue between Sugar Street and Simons Avenue and on Holmes Avenue between Sugar Street and Catalpa Avenue. The project would also construct new curbs and gutters, storm sewers, water lines, sidewalks, and signage with a goal to improve infrastructure and drainage.

Wapakoneta’s last comprehensive plan was completed in 2008 and it was deemed necessary by community officials to develop a comprehensive plan to help plan and coordinate the many great things currently happening in the community.
Residents and city officials gathered Tuesday Evening inside the City Club to view the latest plans for the multi-million dollar Lima Community Aquatic Center project.
At this meeting, a concept design will be introduced that shows the features that can possibly be included in the aquatics center that will be located near Stadium Park. There is an activity pool, a multi-use pool that will have a retractable enclosure for year-round use. There is also a pool house and concession restroom area in the design. They are looking for more public input before the design is locked in.
The 2022 Public Survey is anonymous and takes approximately five minutes to complete. The survey is designed to be used as a platform for organizational learning, asking specific questions related to traffic safety issues and previous interactions with OSHP employees. The survey is created in accordance with standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The meeting is part of an ongoing study of the U.S. 30 corridor from the Indiana state line in Paulding County to the Lincoln Highway (County Road 418) interchange in Van Wert County. Eighteen at-grade intersections have been identified as part of the study. The feasibility study is expected to be completed near the end of 2022.
The Bike and Pedestrian Task Force discussed ways to improve overall transportation in the area, with a focus on youth. The group says that they want to gather input from the area's young minds in order to have their voices heard, as well as give them a chance to participate in making a change in their community.
