May 15, 2024, Press Release from Reveille LTD: Wapakoneta, Ohio – May 2024 – Wapakoneta City officials, together with the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, have begun the process of developing a Comprehensive Community Plan. Wapakoneta’s last comprehensive plan was completed in 2008 and it was deemed necessary by community officials to develop a comprehensive plan to help plan and coordinate the many great things currently happening in the community.
The purpose of the Plan is to create a unified vision for the community to preserve its storied heritage while giving direction for future desirable growth and development. The new Plan will help community officials in areas such as neighborhoods, economic development, downtown and riverfront revitalization, parks and recreation, infrastructure, and community facilities.
According to Mayor Dan Lee, the planning process will culminate in a Plan of Action that will help Wapakoneta address future challenges and opportunities and serve as a guide for the City to be more resilient, resourceful, and interconnected to its natural assets like the Auglaize River.
Beginning May 15th, residents will be able to participate in a brief survey. A link to this survey can found on the home page of Wapakoneta’s website (www.wapakoneta.net) or by clicking here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PlanWapak. The survey asks residents, business owners and other community stakeholders questions relative to their community priorities, growth, revitalization, and livelihood of the community.
In addition to the community survey, Wapakoneta high school students will be able to complete their own survey. The entire process will take roughly one year and the Comprehensive Plan will be ready for adoption in Spring 2025 or thereabouts.
Reveille, a firm that specializes in comprehensive community development solutions, will assist a steering committee comprised of community representatives in developing the Plan.
Printed copies of the survey can also be obtained at City Hall but completion of the online survey is preferred.
