Plows are getting a once over and fluids getting topped off before they start tackling the roads when the first snowflake falls early Wednesday morning. They also had tanker trucks out, putting salt brine on the primary roads to help clear them later. With heavy wet snow expected, the trucks will be moving slower, so District 1 officials ask that you give the snow plows their space.

Gov. Mike DeWine is continuing his support for fixing the weed problem in Indian Lake in 2023.  In October, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources unveiled a plan  to deal with the excessive growth  of two different kinds  of aquatic vegetation that affected 75% of the lake this past summer. For part of the solution, Aqua Doc Lake and Pond Management was hired to use herbicides to target the specific vegetation to control its spread.

Chief Petty Officer Christian Scott, a 2005 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and American Military University alumnus with a Bachelor of Arts in Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, joined the Navy 16 years ago. "Joining the Navy was not on my mind originally," said Scott. "As I was attending The Ohio State University, something just felt like it was missing from my heart. I was provided some guidance from friends and family to inquire about the military."

The port authority is managed by the Allen Economic Development Group and the Ohio Revised Code allows the county to transfer the land to the port authority. The building has sat empty for more than a decade with no bids at several auction attempts. This move made the most sense to commissioners as the port authority received a $700,000 loan from the Ohio Department of Development to take the building down.

Monday, November 7, 2022, marks the start of the Lima Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign and carries on the tradition started in 1891. Area locations include all Chief and Kewpee locations, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, and Sam’s. The National Red Kettle Campaign Kick-off is celebrated Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2022, during half-time at Dallas AT&T Stadium.

The campaign brought increased law enforcement patrol to prepare for the holiday weekend. Operation Dry Water is a national boating under the influence campaign that strives to make sure that boaters take the necessary precautions when being out on the water. Over the holiday weekend, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources officers issued 37 citations and nearly 450 safety warnings.
