There was an accident earlier Thursday with a car crashing into the side of a house. Shawnee Township police and fire departments responded to the call in the 3,800 block of Fort Amanda Road. It is unknown if anybody was in the home at the time of the accident.
Shawnee Township Fire Department acted quickly to clean up a nitric acid spill leaking from a truck earlier on Friday. Just before 10:30 a.m., firefighters were called out to Buckeye and Fort Amanda roads for two pools of acid spilled when the truck started and stopped on the road. The truck driver was able to shut off the leak on Buckeye Road. No one was injured.
The Ohio Department of Transportation will improve the intersection of State Route 501 and Fort Amanda Road in Allen County by providing better signage to caution drivers.
One person was taken to the hospital from a car-motorcycle accident in Shawnee Township this afternoon. Shawnee Township first responders were called to the intersection of Yoakam Road and Fort Amanda Road, just before 3 p.m. They say a car was westbound on Ft. Amanda Road and was attempting to turn south onto Yoakam Road when it struck the eastbound motorcycle.
