SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, ALLEN CO. Ohio (WLIO) — A two-vehicle crash in Allen County claimed the life of a Wapakoneta woman Friday afternoon.
Shawnee Township Police Chief Robert A Kohli said Valerie Doty, 68, of Wapakoneta, was killed after her SUV was struck by a car at the intersection of State Route 501 and Fort Amanda Road shortly before 4 p.m.
Doty was driving south on State Route 501, approaching Fort Amanda Road, when her vehicle was hit on the driver’s side by a westbound car. Police said the car was driven by Robert Larotonda, 82, of Cridersville, who failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
Doty was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
