ALLEN COUNTY, OHIO (WLIO) — A proposed roundabout at the intersection of Fort Amanda and Buckeye roads in Allen County will be fully funded by the state after being deemed a safety concern.

Proposed Allen County Roundabout to Receive Full State Funding

The intersection, which handles about 15,000 vehicles per day, was included on Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s roadway safety list, qualifying it for 100% state funding for the estimated $2.5 million project.

Allen County Engineer Brion Rhodes is happy about the funding. “Yeah, we're really excited about this because of the safety factors at the intersection,” Rhodes said. “It met the governor's list, and therefore it received, actually, 100% funding for not only the construction but also the design and environmental and the right-of-way acquisition costs of that project, which is very unique.”

The county is responsible only for funding the construction inspection and the right-of-way purchase. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
