VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) - The Marsh Foundation officially cut the ribbon on their Equine Center on Friday.
The foundation opened the center with the help of the Lima/Allen County and Van Wert Chambers of Commerce, who held a double ribbon cutting on Friday afternoon.
Officials said the main goal of the center is to help with mental health, and that even grooming the horses alone is very therapeutic. Professionals like an equine specialist and therapist will be present in a youth group setting at the center, with the goal to provide an outlet to those who need the help.
"We wanted to showcase what we've done over the past six years, and the dreaming of this place, creating this place, and creating the idea to help more kids and families in Northwest Ohio," said Jeff Grothouse, chief operating officer for the Marsh Foundation. "We've found that this type of therapy improves and speeds up the healing process for our kids, and that's what we're all about."
