LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - An Allen County family is not letting the weather stop a project near and dear to their hearts.
The rain did not stop the McDorman family from setting up a lemonade stand off Spencerville Road. The McDorman family is a tight-knit family and is supportive of each other. The youngest member of the family, Elliot, was recently diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and his brothers and sisters wanted to do something in support of him. With the help of their mom and dad, the lemonade stand came to life.
The money raised will go to the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The family wants to share Elliot's story, bringing awareness to the struggles families face and the joy that comes from them.
"Every day is a challenge. We are still learning, There's a lot of days where we're like, what do we do from here? But mine and my husband's goal is to make sure that Elliot never misses out on an opportunity and Elliot never feels different. And so that's another reason why we're raising funds, because we don't, we want to make sure that every child or as many kids as we can have the opportunity to, you know, feel included," said Katie McDorman, Elliot's mom.
