LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - On time and under budget is what everyone doing a building project wants to hear.
Allen County commissioners took a walkthrough of the new Allen County Government Center Thursday morning. The estimated $17 million project is under budget and heading into the final stretch of construction. Commissioners hope to get into the building in September and go from there. The project was paid for with dedicated funds and is debt-free.
"End of September, the keys will be turned over. Everything's on schedule to have the keys turned over to the county. And from there, probably another month of getting everybody situated and moved in, moved in from across the street at the courthouse. So I would say beginning of November, this place will be hustling and bustling with county offices and county residents using it," said Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan.
At that time, Noonan says they will turn to remodeling the county courthouse to get all four courts into one location, creating a complete justice center with the sheriff's office and jail.
