According to the National Retail Federation’s 2024 Holiday Consumer Survey, approximately 44% of consumers expect to give a gift card as a present this season, making it the second most-popular category behind only clothing at 54%.

Woof Boom radio stations in Lima continued their annual initiative to support Allen County Children Services with a gift drive to collect everything from toys and books to those everyday essentials like laundry detergent and diapers. They managed to pack the van full and unloaded the items today at their Towne Square studio. Money is tight for many during the holidays, and the goal is to lighten the load for the families they support.
The VFW Post 9142 was making stops at different nursing homes to drop off presents, one of the stops being the Meadows of Ottawa Senior Living Center. Each veteran received a hat and a lap blanket to use. The veterans appreciated that the VFW stopped by to honor their service and think about them around the holidays.
