“This year, we are aiming on helping people identify their support system so that they know if they have a question, if they've got a problem, if they need something, who are they going to call?” said Lori Nester, breastfeeding coordinator for the Allen County WIC program. “And that can include family and friends, knowing who to call at your doctor’s office, at the hospital, the WIC office — wherever you might need to make that call.”

Allen County Public Health Commissioner Brandon Fischer says that federal funding at their department is sitting better now than just a month ago, but it's still day to day.
Mercer County declared an emergency earlier this week due to the effects of the bird flu.
They will be visiting five different locations starting this Thursday and ending next Tuesday to administer shots during the walk-in clinics. These clinics are on top of their regularly scheduled clinics every Tuesday at the health department. You will need to bring your COVID card or your insurance card depending on which shot you are getting. Officials hope people take advantage of the clinics to make sure their holidays are healthier.
Thanks to a grant from Allen County Public Health, city crews have been replacing sharrows in several neighborhoods. The marking is to remind motorists and bicyclists that they are sharing the road on designated bike routes. The thermoplastic material is melted onto the pavement rather than painted to increase the life of the markings. The city and the health department have teamed up before with grant opportunities.

Allen County Public Health offers appointments to get them and they strongly suggest talking with your doctor if you aren't sure about them because they do protect against disease.
The shots are for children 6 months to 5 years old. These pediatric vaccines will expand eligibility to nearly 20 million additional children. These will be doses that are much smaller than those given to adults. And children under 3 years of age need to get the shot at the health department or at a physician’s office.
Allen County Public Health is reporting 3 to 5 cases a day but that does not include any home testing that people are not reporting that is positive. The severity of the symptoms on a whole is less but that is not to say it can’t knock you off your feet. Health officials say the virus is still unpredictable with strains that are appearing to be more contagious, and they are prepared if there is an uptick.
