Since 2020, the St. Rita’s Community Cares Summer Initiative has raised money by allowing employees and volunteers to pay to wear jeans instead of their normal work attire on Fridays during the summer months.
“You're not legally required to have an infant in a car seat on a bus. You can hold your baby, while it's still best practice,” said Megan Kinnear, Public Outreach & Community Program Planner at LACRPC. “We still want everyone to know — if you have a carrier available, that's always the best way to have your child, even on a bus. But if you don't have that, this is an alternative option, or if you just need alternative transportation.”
Dave Halker has been affiliated with Heartbeat of Lima and Putnam County for 3-decades as a board member. He retired from the board and still wanted to be involved and that started his mission of volunteering.

Over 200 cars, trucks, and motorcycles were on display at Tom Ahl’s dealership for the annual Heartbeat of Lima charity car show. Owners of classic cars, custom cars, motorcycles, and trucks were ready to show off their pride and joys while raising money to help women before and after pregnancy. The agency doesn’t receive any other funding besides donations, so events like the car show help Heartbeat continue their mission.
