Heritage Elementary School students were crowned kings and queens by Lima Senior High School basketball players as part of a medieval-themed National School Breakfast Week celebration. The event, supported by the USDA, highlighted the importance of starting the day with a free, nutritious meal and a welcoming environment.

Thanksgiving is less than a week away, but the Lima Sparty Friends are celebrating a little early! On Friday afternoon, the "Littles" from Unity, Freedom, Heritage, and Independence Elementary Schools visited their "Bigs" at West Middle School for their Thanksgiving celebration.

They are called "HOT" tickets. Students can get them for being "Here On Time" at school as a reward. The school district introduced the "Every Day On Time" program last year and has seen an improvement in on-time attendance. The tickets are a reward for the students' efforts. The "HOT" tickets will be entered into a drawing for "HOT" chips that are being supplied by State Farm Insurance Agent Corey Frazer.

It's hard to believe another summer break has come and gone as long lines were spotted in front of Heritage Elementary School in Lima on Wednesday morning as parents come to drop off their kids on the very first day of school. The students we spoke to seemed very eager for the school year to begin. The last couple of years have been particularly challenging for our educators as the pandemic disrupted the way that kids learn. Principal Barker says she is very optimistic they will make up for lost time this year.

It was as easy as 1-2-3 as kindergarteners at Heritage Elementary School received tutoring from Senior High Early Childhood Education students. The older students became aware that the younger ones were lagging on their math skills, so they made a plan of action. They came up with several fun learning games that gave them a better understanding of math.
