The WRAP program is providing quiet but impactful support to Lima City Schools students and their families by connecting them with critical social services. Leaders say the effort has helped up to 15 families each year and is expanding through the planned Ujima Safe House.
The City of Lima is looking for general contractors to take on small repair projects to help low- to moderate-income homeowners.
“Very exciting. This is something we've been working on for about a year and a half, and getting everything together with it,” Magana said. “So to see it all come together, and see it actually happening is so exciting.”
They've raised more than a million dollars locally over the past 20 years to help families dealing with childhood cancer.
The department increased its income guidelines in 2023, allowing more residents to access services, but also leading to a significant increase in applicants.
