LIMA, OH (WLIO) - There are new resources out there available for all who are looking to become potential homeowners.

On Tuesday Mercy Health were accompanied by Habitat, Allen Metropolitan Housing, The State Bank and Trust Company amongst other lenders to help provide and create pathways for home seeking individuals.
As part of Mercy Health Lima's on-going work to support local neighborhoods, they have developed a down payment assistance program for associates and affiliated partners who wish to purchase a home in Census Tract 129.
On Tuesday Mercy Health were accompanied by Habitat, Allen Metropolitan Housing, The State Bank and Trust Company amongst other lenders to help provide and create pathways for home seeking individuals.
"We have lenders here that are willing to work with people. Maybe you're not in metropolitan housing but you have a lower credit score. We have lenders that are willing to work with you and keep you going on a process to where you do end up being able to buy a home. I feel like people think that they never owned a home before, so they think that's big and scary, but really, it's no different than paying bills at your rental. It's just now it is yours," stated Carla Thompson, Mercy Health.

Tami Trenkamp of The State Bank and Trust Company added, "sometimes people aren't ready. They will come in and we will sit down and talk. Our job is to get them ready. So, if there is something that they need to work on, say maybe your credit score, then we teach them and talk to them on how we get there; how do we get that credit score to be increased in order for them to be successful."
