SPENCERVILLE (WLIO) — Spencerville rode strong pitching and a clutch fourth inning to a 3-0 win over Crestview in six innings, extending its winning streak to six games.
Jude Stemen set the tone on the mound for the Bearcats, striking out three, including two to end the second inning. Crestview’s Luke Sawmiller matched him early, piling up six strikeouts as the game stayed scoreless through three innings.
Spencerville broke through in the fourth with the bases loaded when Grady Smith sent a line drive over the right fielder’s head, bringing home two runs for the game’s first lead.
The Bearcats added insurance in the sixth when Mason Lewis grounded a ball through the right side, allowing Stemen to score and push the lead to 3-0.
Spencerville improved to 2-0 in league play with the shutout win.
