Allen County Public Health is also warning the public about Legionnaires' disease making an appearance in Allen County. Health Commissioner Brandon Fischer says that two separate, non-related cases of Legionnaires' disease were confirmed in August, with one person requiring hospitalization. Legionnaires' disease is rare, and we also talked with Fischer about how his department responds to situations like these.

Allen County Public Health is warning the community about an increase in COVID cases noted in the county. According to Health Commissioner Brandon Fischer, the number of new COVID cases in Allen County has doubled from July into August, along with three consecutive months with increasing cases. Fischer also reports that Allen County observed 31 COVID hospitalizations in August, which is also an increase from July.

Sherrod Brown hosted the roundtable and discussed the "Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022", which will secure access to the Department of Veteran Affairs' healthcare and disability benefits for veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals. Some veterans who joined the roundtable were exposed to or affected by burn pits during their military service.

That's because people aren't masking as much and we've had less exposure to respiratory illnesses throughout the pandemic. So, it's important to add extra layers of protection.

They recommend drinking plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. In fact, they advise athletes to drink water the night before, to ensure they're well hydrated when they hit the field.
