In late January, John Kehoe was convicted after a jury trial for rape. Today he returned to the courtroom to hear his fate. In Allen County Common Pleas Court, John Kehoe was sentenced to 23 years in prison for his conviction on three counts of rape. Kehoe raped a friend of his step-daughter’s back in January 2019. The victim, Selena Harrison, testified during the trial, providing a crucial testimony. The judge addressed Harrison following her judgment.

After two hours of deliberating on the fourth day of John Kehoe's trial, the jury returned to the courtroom with a verdict. John Kehoe was found guilty on all three counts of rape for three different acts of sexual conduct against Selena Harrison. The jury first deliberated for more than six hours Thursday before finishing their decision this morning. It was January of last year when Kehoe had a small party at his Elida home with his ex-fiance, her daughter and daughter's friend, Harrison. They all testified drinking was involved that day. Kehoe will be sentenced on March 12.

Early Thursday afternoon, the jury was handed the evidence and headed into deliberation in the trial of John Kehoe. As of 7 p.m. Thursday night, the jury couldn't come to a decision and need more time deliberate. They will continue on Friday morning. The defense chose not to present any evidence to start day three of the trial. So the jury heard closing arguments before they started deciding on Kehoe's three rape charges. The state says they've proven all the elements in the charges and that Kehoe has no credibility after lying to the detective. The defense says Kehoe acted as anyone would when speaking to police. The defense pointed out things in the evidence to say this was a consensual matter and Kehoe was scared because he cheated.

The prosecution picked up where it left off in John Kehoe's trial, talking to people in the house the day of the alleged rape of Selena Harrison. Kehoe's ex-fiance, Kristina and her daughter Rebekah Burkholder testified to their version of events on Jan. 26, 2019. They both said, them, Kehoe and Harrison were all drinking. Their testimonies were similar to what Harrison testified on Tuesday. A BCI scientist further confirmed there was an interaction between Harrison and Kehoe as they found Kehoe's DNA from the results of a rape kit.

The trial for a Lima man accused of rape started in Allen County Common Pleas Court. John Kehoe is charged with three counts of rape, allegedly against his stepdaughter's best friend. She took the stand on the first day and gave consent to be recorded. She detailed she went to her friend's mom's house where Kehoe and the rest of the family held a small party. She testified by the time she was done drinking she couldn't walk in a straight line. She says Kehoe helped her into the same bed her friend was in and that's when she says he raped her. She later had a rape kit performed at a nearby hospital.

A Lima man approaching his trial has been offered a plea deal. John Kehoe returned to Allen County Common Pleas Court for a plea offer from the prosecution. He faces three charges of rape. The prosecution has offered him a deal to plead guilty to two amended charges of sexual battery and one charge of rape would be dropped.

Allen County Common Pleas Court is still reeling from the medical emergencies of a few court-appointed attorneys. 36-year-old John Kehoe appeared in court today (8/8/19) and was filled in on the medical condition of his attorney Steve Chamberlain. He suffered a medical emergency and was expecting to be out of work through this month. Kehoe previously pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape. With Chamberlain out, his trial date of Sept. 3 has now been vacated.

A Lima man accused of rape is trying to suppress statements he made to be used as evidence. 35-year-old John Kehoe was back in Allen County Common Pleas Court on Monday. His defense counsel filed a motion to suppress statements Kehoe made to police. The motion states his fifth amendment rights were violated and he wasn't properly advised of his Miranda rights. Kehoe pleaded not guilty to three charges of rape. Documents state there is one female victim who went to the hospital and samples were taken.

A Lima man accused of rape will have to wait a bit longer for his trial. 35-year-old John Kehoe appeared in Allen County Common Pleas Court this morning to sign a time waiver. Kehoe waived his right to have a speedy trial and his new trial date is set for September 3. He has already pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape. According to the indictment all three counts happened in January of this year involving the same female victim.

John  Kehoe, 35 was arraigned Friday on 3 Rape charges in Allen County Common Pleas Court.  Kehoe pleaded not guilty to all counts. 

     The indictment says all three counts happened in January of this year involving the same female victim.  The victim went to the hospital and samples were taken, Kehoe was arrested after results of a test matched his DNA.
