Jurors found him not guilty on the kidnapping charge, but instead, they found him guilty on the reduced charge of abduction. They also found him not guilty of rape, but guilty of gross sexual imposition. Back in 2021, Catlett allegedly held a man against his will and had sexual contact with him.

According to the indictment, Catlett allegedly held a man against his will and had sexual contact with him. In his previous case, Catlett originally faced one count of kidnapping, one count of assault, and two counts of rape of a different male victim. That is until he struck a plea deal dropping all but the kidnapping charge.

Allen County Common Pleas Court has been holding contempt of court hearings over the past week on jurors who failed to show up for their jury summons in the case that they were supposed to serve, and in the situation when there are not enough potential jurors, the judge does have an option to send out the sheriff to serve summons to random people congregated in areas such as grocery stores or restaurants in order to get the minimum requirement for a jury trial.

According to both Allen County Judges Jeffrey Reed and Terri Kohlrieser, a large number of people are not appearing for their summoned jury duty obligations. The past few weeks have seen some cases almost not having the necessary amount of jurors seated for a trial. Another factor that Judge Reed points to is social media. According to the court, false postings have been made in the local area that recent court summons were "fake" and had a "forged" signature of court judges. Reed says that social media is often "irresponsible" and "unaccountable", and the recent false posting proves that point.

A 20-year-old Lima murder case is back in the news. A federal appeals court says a lower court judge can hold a hearing to weigh two juror bias claims in the case of convicted killer Jeronique Cunningham. The 49-year-old Cunningham and his half-brother Cleveland Jackson were convicted and sentenced to death for a deadly drug-related robbery on Eureka Street in Lima back in 2002. Two girls, including a 3-year old, were killed in the attack. Five others were injured.
