May 10, 2024, Press Release from the St. Marys Community Public Library: The St. Marys Community Public Library hosts creative writing classes every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Join us to create characters and worlds. Located in the Young Adult section of the library. On Wednesday, June 5th, hiker and speaker Jeff Alt will give two presentations at the library. The first, which is geared for children ages 5-12, is titled National Park Time Traveling Adventures, will be held at 6:00 p.m. The second program, which is geared for adults, is titled A Walk for Sunshine Appalachian Trail Show and starts at 7:00 p.m.

The St. Marys Community Public Library and the Heritage Trails Park District invite the public to a Gardener’s Swap and Share on Wednesday, May 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come to the parking area outside the library and bring your plant divisions and miscellaneous garden plants to swap and share with others. Then join us for a presentation at 7:00 p.m. given by Kevin O’Neill, who will talk about “Farming for Pollinators.” Learn about what he has discovered while farming for bees.

Ohio State Lima librarian Zach Walton says books are a chance to learn more from the shared experiences of another. Over the last couple of years, there has been a sharp increase in books challenged in school and public libraries, that have subject matter that sexual orientation, racism, or violence. He spotlighted books from African American authors that have been at the top of the list for being challenged, and the importance of keeping these books on the shelf.
