LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Public Library is introducing people to art with a new monthly Bob Ross-style painting class.
The new program, funded by the Lima Library Association, kicked off on Saturday afternoon. Classes are taught by a professional instructor certified to teach the Bob Ross style. All skill levels are welcome, especially beginners. Participants create a different nature scene each session, and like on the show, mistakes are made into new features of the finished artwork. The library hopes the series can help people get started painting, a hobby that many find good for their mental health.
"If you look at the news nowadays, it's very stressful, there's a lot going on. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and do something you like," said Ezra Hyman, reference librarian for the Lima Public Library. "You know, art is very good for the mind just in general, so we thought this was important for us, for our patrons."
Registration for the next available class will open on March 2nd.
