ST. MARYS, OH (WLIO) -Â The St. Marys Community Public Library shared information on how to plan for disasters Thursday evening.Â
The library handed out binders that included informative articles and checklists of important things to do before an emergency, from frozen pipes to tornadoes or blizzards. They recommend keeping emergency kits with items like extra clothes, lights, and tools somewhere easily accessible in both your car and home.Â
One important step that's often forgotten is keeping important documents like birth certificates and financial records all together in case you need to leave your home in a hurry.
"Say there's a fire at your house, you could just grab this or have this in a safe place where you can get to it and you just have all your backed up information in there. You don't want to be hunting around for your documents. If you have them already ready to go, you can just grab your binder," explained Angela Karen, the library's technology coordinator.Â
If you are interested in learning more, you can stop by the St. Marys Community Public Library to get a copy of the informational resources and checklists.Â
