LEIPSIC, Ohio — Leipsic opened the new-look Blanchard Valley Conference with a 26-7 victory over McComb on Friday night at John Edwards Memorial Field.

The Eagles had won the previous three BVC championships, while Leipsic finished second last season. McComb was the last team other than Liberty-Benton to win the league title.

Leipsic led 12-7 at halftime before pulling away in the second half.

Marc Kirkendall connected with Avery Paris for a touchdown to extend the Vikings' lead to 18-7.

Leipsic then went for two, with Kirkendall finding Paris again in the back corner of the end zone to make it 20-7.

McComb entered the fourth quarter trailing by 13 points and looked to generate some momentum.

Ashtin Gallagher connected with Carter Frater along the sideline for a first down, keeping the Panthers' drive alive.

But moments later, on third-and-10, McComb went deep and Paris came away with the interception. The senior returned the pick to the 50-yard line.

Leipsic went on to secure the 26-7 victory.

The win gives the Vikings an early advantage in the new-look Blanchard Valley Conference following Liberty-Benton's run of three consecutive league championships.
