LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Mother Nature has been kind to the Allen County Fair, and fair officials hope the favorable weather continues through the final night of the event Saturday.
The weather has been ideal throughout fair week, with packed midways on most evenings as families play games, ride rides and enjoy their favorite fair foods.
Promotions and Operations Manager Troy Elwer said attendance has been strong throughout the week, with officials expecting another good crowd Friday night and Saturday. The question now is whether attendance could set a new record.
“Attendance so far has been very, very good. If you compare it to last year, I think out of the seven days that we've had so far, every day has been up for last year with the exception of 1. So we're very grateful to see that. And when we round out the fair, I'll have the true and final attendance numbers to share with everyone,” Elwer said.
Friday night's featured event is the demolition derby at the grandstands.
On Saturday, rides open at noon with an all-day wristband special. The fair will wrap up with an America 250th celebration fireworks display at dusk at the grandstand.
The Allen County Fair officially closes at 11 p.m. Saturday.
