12th annual Bud Lauck Memorial Horse Show brings riders of all ages together

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The 12th annual Bud Lauck Memorial Horse Show brought riders of all ages together at the Allen County Fair on Friday.

The show began in 2014 to honor Bud Lauck, who was involved in the horse department at the fair. His family partnered with the Equine Country Club to create the memorial show and help further the 4-H program.

Riders ranged from 4-year-olds in the peewee division to parents and alumni, giving former 4-H members a chance to get back in the saddle.

Competitions included timed events, an egg-and-spoon class and a "Ride a Buck" class. Organizers say the activities are designed to be fun while keeping Lauck's memory alive.

"Just getting his name out there that he's never going to be forgotten. He's just a part of us forever. He bought and sold horses for a living. That's what he did, and he was a true horseman," said Cathy Lauck, Bud's daughter-in-law.

Organizers say they hope to continue the memorial show for years to come.
