The Lima Exchange Club honored 12 Allen County seniors as Youth of the Year, awarding scholarships and recognizing Delphos St. John’s Alaina Martin for her top essay on giving back to the community.
“A place for every student” was the message shared Thursday at the Lima Exchange Club as Lima City Schools Superintendent Andre Rudolph outlined the district’s programs and goals.
Members of the Lima Exchange Club heard an update on Ohio’s transportation system and future road projects from Ohio Department of Transportation District One Director Chris Hughes.
The Lima Exchange Club continued its two-decade tradition by bringing Santa and holiday gifts to Freedom Elementary students, with help from local sponsors.
The group agreed that Lima residents should find a club that matches their interests and passions. Many local service clubs have websites and Facebook pages offering information on how to join.
The Lima Exchange Club is continuing its mission to support and protect children in Lima and Allen County.
“So that’s our job, is to make sure there’s nobody in here messing around and causing problems for people that just want to come out here, enjoy the fair and have a good time,” Treglia said. “And so the board members don’t have to worry about it, and the vendors don’t have to worry about it, and the 4-H clubs don’t have to worry about it. We’ll take care of all the problems, just let us know where it’s happening.”
Longtime Lima Exchange Club member Mike Mullen has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ohio/West Virgina District Board of Directors.
The announcement of the Jack Somerville Law Officer of the Year Award was made as part of the fallen officer memorial service at the FOP Lima Lodge.
The organizations donated $1,500 to Allen County Children Services (ACCS) to assist with the purchase of diapers — a critical need when children are removed from their homes or when families served by the agency cannot afford basic necessities.
