“If you read the angel tags, it really just shows you these individuals are looking for basic things, grocery gift cards, gift cards to go out to eat, cleaning supplies, warm blankets, treats for their pets. For us, it's just about bringing some extra cheer to those in the community who may not receive it otherwise,” said Jessia Eutsler, volunteer services and gift shop coordinator.

The Lima Memorial Auxiliary hosted its annual Christmas bazaar, featuring crafts, baked goods, and holiday décor to raise funds for hospital projects while celebrating the holiday season.

The Lima Memorial Health System Auxiliary is ushering in the Christmas season during their annual bazaar and the opening of their gift shop. There was a wide variety of baked goods, homemade crafts, and holiday decorations for their bazaar, which were made by auxiliary members, hospital staff, retired associates, and community members. The auxiliary also unwrapped their gift shop, which has new holiday items and potential gifts for people to check out while they are visiting Lima Memorial Health System.

Six local students getting some financial help for college today thanks to the Lima Memorial Auxiliary. Each year the Lima Memorial Auxiliary and Lima Memorial School of Nursing Alumni Award Scholarships to local students who plan to pursue a career in the medical field. This year, six students received scholarships of at least $1500 and were recognized before the auxiliary board for their hard work.

The Lima Memorial Auxiliary donated to the center through the annual supply drive. The Children’s Developmental Center is located inside the health system and is for kids 18 months to before they can go to kindergarten who have areas of developmental concerns. The annual supply drive is a way that the Lima Memorial associates can help out the program by providing snacks, activities, and paper products.

To become a life member, the volunteers must complete 400 hours of service to the health system. 16 people were given their life members pins. In total, they have 20 years of service, and 10 of those were active in-service volunteers. Sheila Miller has volunteered over 6500 hours at Lima Memorial Health System and has enjoyed being there to help others.

After sorting through 67 applications, the Lima Memorial Auxiliary chose three graduates pursuing a career in the medical field to receive a scholarship. In their search, the auxiliary says they look at a student's academics, community service, and what influenced them to choose their career path. For the winner of the $2,000 Volunteen Scholarship, Kylie Shafer, she put around 120 volunteer hours in Lima Memorial's phlebotomy and radiology departments in 2018 and 2019.
