“We found that there was real need for it, not only from a financial point of view, but so many of the stores that sold that kind of thing are no longer here, and we’re finding girls are finding it harder and harder to get a dress, and so they come there, they find what they want, and it saves their parents a great deal of money,” said Candi Newland of the Lima Kiwanis Club.

A longtime Lima tradition is preparing for another year as volunteers finish stocking shelves for the upcoming AAUW Book Fair. The sale will take place at the former Rite Aid store at West Elm Street and Eastown Road. Inside the building, volunteers say they have organized between 120,000 and 150,000 books, along with games, puzzles, CDs and DVDs.

It was a day of honor and remembrance at Marimor Legacy Park and Playground. The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities hosted its fourth annual Butterfly Memorial, which honors people who have passed away after receiving services from the board, as well as those who supported its mission.
