Longtime Lima business owner and philanthropist Bill Timmermeister, known for his leadership and community impact, died Thursday at age 80.
Truman is now a graduate of Rhodes State College and a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She said the scholarship provided more than just financial assistance.
“It also just encouraged me to keep going. It basically gave me a quiet fan club, you know, rooting for my success. So that was really helpful, and just even initiating, because I didn't know what I was doing, and I just started scared,” Truman said.

It was established as a charter school in 2001 with around 40 students through the governing authority of the Cornerstone Harvest Church.
The Lima Rotary is hoping to start a new Lima tradition with their “Holiday Home Tour” this Sunday. This is the first year for the event, and they have 6 homes on the tour. It is self-guided, where you go to the locations and visit the homes decorated for the holiday season.
It looked like a well-oiled machine today as the Lima Rotary Club lent a helping hand to the West Ohio Food Bank. Rotarians teamed up with twenty members of Bath High School's Interact Club to pack food boxes for the food bank.
Work continues to get the Greater Lima Region Park and Amphitheater ready for its opening weekend three months from now. The Lima Rotary got an update on the project that they started around six years ago and now is in its final stretch. Grass will be planted soon and the pillars with the Rotary logo have been installed. Crews are working on the stage area for the next couple of days, installing the grid for the lighting and the sound. The Rotary Club continues to get donations for the project
Lima Police Department’s Crime prevention specialist Liz Casey talked to the group about her mission to partner with residents, businesses, and organizations to improve the quality of life and reduce the fear of crime. She also produces a monthly newsletter that spotlights local businesses and organizations talking about different safety topics, like this month focusing on tips for kids as they transition from school to summer.
Expert Adam Swick talked about digital currency, like bitcoin, and how thousands of computers from around the world keep track of digital transactions much like a bank does with money. Swick says the value for cryptocurrency is simple supply and demand, there are only so many digital coins that exist and if there is higher demand, the price goes up. If you are looking at investing in cryptocurrency, it is best to do your homework first.
