August 28, 2024, Press Release from Bowling Green State University: BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – More than doubling in size over the past two years, the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band is now the second largest in the nation and the largest in University history with 425 members. Led by Director of Marching and Athletic Bands professor Jon Waters, the Falcon Marching Band is the largest student organization on campus. Seventy-five percent of members represent majors outside of music, underscoring The Wall Street Journal's ranking of BGSU as the No. 1 university in Ohio for the student experience.

The Shawnee High School Marching Band was hard at work practicing for their 2024 festival show performance inspired by the Broadway play Wicked. The jazzy show will include renditions of famous songs including "No One Mourns the Wicked," "Defying Gravity," and "No Good Deed." In between drills and run-throughs, we talked with two students about not only the friendships associated with marching band but the educational components as well.

Every year, the Kewpee Showcase of the Bands invited any local high school to come show off their skills in an evening of marching band performances.
The Lima Senior High School band received a little help for their New York City trip Friday afternoon. The Lima Senior class of 1966 has been spending the summer raising money for the band, who leaves for NYC in November.
