The Van Wert County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday afternoon that a portion of the village of Middle Point will be closed for an unknown amount of time as authorities execute a search warrant. The search warrant was for the residence located at 304 South Adams Street. Authorities have not provided any information on what caused the search warrant, or what was found in the residence afterward. Back in 2016, an investigation took place in the same location by the Van Wert County Sheriff's Office. The investigation was for a missing 25-year-old male.

Authorities in Van Wert County are investigating a shooting that left a young child dead. According to Van Wert County Sheriff Tom Riggenbach, deputies were called to a location in Middle Point just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon on reports of a young child with a gunshot wound. The child was taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita's hospital by Middle Point EMS, where the child was pronounced dead. The Van Wert County Coroner's Office also assisted at the scene. The sheriff says the incident remains under investigation.

An annual charity fundraiser returned to Middle Point this weekend. The Huggy Bear Campground hosted their annual St. Jude Children's Research Hospital benefit for the 8th year. The event has become tradition close to the hearts of the campground and the community around it. Last year's event put them past the half-million mark in donations and they say they have no intentions of stopping as long as there are children who need help.

A Delphos teen has been indicted for a shooting incident that happened in Middle Point in April.

A man is in custody following a shooting Tuesday night, in Middle Point, in Van Wert County.
