The Allen Lima Leadership class gets a hands-on lesson about the importance of keeping our waterways clean. The class joined the Ottawa River Coalition to collect samples from the river to see what's living in it. The health of the river can be determined by the different insects and animals that are found living there. The environment is just one of the topics the Allen Lima Leadership group will study during their year-long class.

The Ottawa River Coalition’s annual “Good Friday Fish Fry” has become a tradition in Allen County as hundreds come out for a great meal. But they are also supporting the coalition’s efforts to educate the public about the importance of the river and its watershed to our region. They offer a variety of programs about the river for all ages.

The Ottawa River Coalition held their 19th Good Friday Fish Fry today. The organization works to protect the water quality of the Ottawa River and its inhabitants. All proceeds from the fish fry will go towards this goal by funding river education efforts and water improvement projects. Their Executive Director, Haley Belisle, says they expect to sell out all the meal tickets.
