LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Allen Lima Leadership class gets a hands-on lesson about the importance of keeping our waterways clean.
The environment is just one of the topics the Allen Lima Leadership group will study during their year-long class.
The class joined the Ottawa River Coalition to collect samples from the Ottawa River to see what's living in it. The health of the river can be determined by the different insects and animals that are found living there. Cenovus Energy director of operations Sebastien Robert moved to the Lima area from Canada 6 months ago and thought the class would help him learn more about this area.
"I thought it was a great opportunity, and my company sponsored me and thought it was a great opportunity to network and learn a little more about the area. It helps us understand how we can be great community partners, as a refinery, and it helps me as well because I like to volunteer and be involved in the community," says Sebastien Robert, director of operations at Cenovus Energy.
After they wrapped up their study of the Ottawa River, the class went to Nutrien to take a tour and learn about local agriculture.
