Plans for a major road construction project in Shawnee Township are underway. The Allen County Engineer has secured federal funding that will cover the majority of a 2.8-million-dollar project that will make improvements at both the Shawnee Road and Breese Road intersection along with the South Dixie and Breese Road intersection. Breese Road between the two intersections will also get improvements along with new pavement. A recent study has been completed on what changes would increase the safety of those areas.

Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith has been beating the pavement with her administration for nearly 2 months with her “Walking the Wards” initiative. Today they were out in parts of the seventh ward on the city's west side. They have been able to talk with residents and witness firsthand issues such as property maintenance, mowing, and sidewalks. Getting out in the neighborhoods has also benefitted the city in another way.

In Van Wert County, US 30 has a few new features on its roadway. They’ve painted arrows in all four lanes at each intersection between Boroff Road and State Line Road. This is part of a collaborative effort between ODOT and the Ohio State Highway Patrol as a way to cut down on wrong way accidents.
