A recent study has been completed on what changes would increase the safety of those areas.

The Allen County Engineer has secured federal funding that will cover the majority of a 2.8-million-dollar project that will make improvements at both the Shawnee Road and Breese Road intersection along with the South Dixie and Breese Road intersection. Breese Road between the two intersections will also get improvements, along with new pavement. A recent study has been completed on what changes would increase the safety of those areas.

"Our safety study came out that said a roundabout would not be a good design there. It would be better suited for just some additional turn lanes and signal improvements there. So that's what we're looking at doing," explained Brion Rhodes, Allen County Engineer.

Rhodes says they will also be looking at pedestrian safety improvements. Construction is anticipated to begin sometime in 2027.
