“Our Impact Day is a day that all firms across Ohio get together and we go and volunteer somewhere locally, and just to, you know, show that we're involved in our community and how much we care, and to just get our name out there,” said Cheyenne Skinner, an accounting specialist with Rea & Associates.

A Wapakoneta church is going outside and gardening with area kids for fun educational lessons during the summer months! St. Paul United Church of Christ, along with the help of over a dozen Wapakoneta kids, have built a bucket garden and recently planted a variety of vegetables ranging from tomatoes and potatoes to onions, cauliflower, corn and much more. St. Paul United Church of Christ is a site for the Ohio Summer Lunch Program, and with area youth gathering at the church for meals during summer break, church officials viewed planting and growing their own fresh produce as an opportunity to teach kids about where food comes from.

While late spring planting caused a later start to harvest, Mother Nature has proved unusually cooperative for field work with very dry weather. We spoke to a farmer in Harrod who says this year is set to rank in the top five of what they've produced, and the little rain we've had this fall hasn't caused any delays. Of course, if it's not weathered, it's something else and says a fungal disease has been found in some of the harvested corn.

Tuesday, the Crossroads Crisis Center held their annual tree planting in memory of those who lost their lives to domestic violence, to honor those who have survived domestic violence, and for all those who are working to end domestic violence. Crossroads officials say that there is more than just physical abuse that comes from the violence and that the partnership they have with the 'we care crisis center' is a key service to many individuals.

A candlelight vigil held in downtown Lima Thursday night in remembrance of the victims of domestic violence. Candles were lit in front of cut outs, representing victims of domestic violence who lost their lives and their stories were read aloud. The event, now in its’ 27th year, is sponsored by the Crossroads Crisis Center.

The monarch is native to Ohio and many other states as it makes annual migrations to Mexico but conservationists warn that habitat destruction and climate change are threatening the iconic black and orange monarch butterfly. Local naturalists say that we can help by planting more of the plant that will feed their offspring.
