The event, now in its’ 27th year, is sponsored by the Crossroads Crisis Center. The idea is to bring people together for stories of victim's loss and of survival. While the vigil is one of many events held as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it has special meaning according to executive director Christel Keller. She says it can be healing for survivors, and may put them in touch with others, who can help. Other upcoming events for Domestic Violence Awareness Month include the annual tree planting on October 18th and wear purple day on the October 20th.
