October 28, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (DELAWARE, Ohio) — The former marketing director of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, who pleaded guilty to 16 felonies, was sentenced to five years in prison today for his role in a scheme that defrauded the zoo of at least $2.3 million, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced. On July 2, Pete Fingerhut pleaded guilty to aggravated theft, conspiracy, tampering with records, and telecommunications fraud. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of falsification.

September 23, 2024, Press Release from the Office of Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost: (DELAWARE, Ohio) — A former purchasing agent for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium was sentenced to 60 days in jail today for enriching himself as part of a broader scheme that defrauded the zoo of at least $2.3 million, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced. Tracy Murnane was sentenced today to 60 days in jail and three years of probation. His sentence also includes a $5,000 fine.

A Hardin County man is sentenced to 150 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine after a large fish kill in the Scioto River. 73-year-old Mark Shepherd was also sentenced to 12 months probation and must pay more than $22,000 in restitution to the Division of Wildlife for the value of the dead fish. More than 43,000 dead fish were collected, including smallmouth bass, flathead, catfish, and minnows.

42-year-old Terrance James was sentenced to 90 days in jail plus 3 years probation on the charge of assault. According to court records, James was at the Certified Gas Station on S. Pine St. in December of 2021. James said that he became angry after the clerk allegedly called him a name. He then kicked open the door to the area that the clerk was in and started hitting him.

The indictment by the grand jury says that the incident happened on July 1st. Lima police officers served a warrant at Luckett's home the same day, where they found marijuana, $15,000 in cash, and three guns. As part of the plea deal, Luckett will surrender the cash and the firearms to the Lima Police Department. In exchange, there will be no drug charges brought against him.
