Restoration efforts on the Putnam County Courthouse are ahead of schedule. Putnam County commissioners say work is going well on the 106-year-old building. A historic Lafayette solder is coming home just in time for Memorial Day. The Civil War soldier statue that stood in the village returned to Lafayette Tuesday, after spending over a year being restored. The project started three years ago when the sandstone base that the statue stood on started to crumble.
