Funding needed for bridge repairs

The general public wants good roads and bridges and as engineers they know how to fix them, but can't do that without funding.

Allen County Engineer Brion Rhodes says his department is responsible for 377 bridges in the county, with many of them aging and in need of repair. The bridges are inspected each year, and they have moved from a maintenance perspective into preservation mode. Over the last several decades, the costs of goods have gone up but revenue has declined.

United State Senator Sherrod Brown has introduced a bill to help the nation rebuild its failing infrastructure. The Bridge Investment Act calls for significant investment in bridge projects. He says by making the investment, we can rebuild our economy. If the bill passes, Brown says each state will have a formula on how the money would be distributed.
