January 21, 2025, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1: LIMA, Ohio (January 21, 2025) – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed projects. The Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing to resurface 8.11 miles of pavement along State Route 66 between the southern city limits of Delphos and the northern village limits of Spencerville and the Ohio Department of Transportation is proposing to replace the bridge that carries State Route 66 (North State Street) over Jennings Creek on the northwest side of the city of Delphos.

May 17, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Transportation: LIMA, Ohio - (Friday, May 17, 2024) It was 1946 when the former bridge on U.S. 127 over the Maumee River was constructed. The first official day of its replacement is today as the new bridge was opened to traffic following a public ceremony. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Defiance County Economic Development, and Paulding County Economic Development, Inc. held a ribbon cutting today on the bridge to recognize a significant piece of highway infrastructure that will stand in the picturesque landscape south of the village of Sherwood for many years.

The City of St. Marys officially opened their new pedestrian bridge next to the high school and middle school today. Previously, students had to cross State Route 66 to get to school on foot. The bridge has been planned for many years and took around a year to complete construction. The bridge itself has lighting for the safety of pedestrians and is designed to protect motorists below.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol states that a semi was heading southbound on I-75 south near mile marker 122 when it veered off the left side of the road, missing the railing but then collided with the middle of an overpass bridge. The driver of the semi was taken to an area hospital. It is currently unknown what their condition is at this time. Traffic was backed up on I-75 south to State Route 81. Crews are currently working on the scene to clear debris and more from the area. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that no further information is available at this time as they investigate the crash.

A part of U.S. 30 by the State Route 115 overpass and exit ramp is back open this morning after being closed for seven hours following a crash with a semi and trailer Thursday evening. The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says that the semi-driver from Indianapolis was ejected and received life-threatening injuries. He was taken to St. Rita's for treatment. The OSHP says he reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Will lifting 18 cents federal gasoline tax make a difference in the pocketbook of consumers? For example, if you have a 16-gallon tank it would save you 2 dollars and 88 cents. If you fill your tank each week during the 3-month gas tax holiday that is just about 35 dollars in savings. The temporary reduction in gas taxes will more than likely hurt an already struggling road and bridge infrastructure in the country.

The truss bridge is scheduled to be closed to traffic between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. The closure is temporary so that the bridge can be inspected. The Allen County Engineer's Office is advising drivers to plan on an alternate route for that time because through traffic will be prohibited.

The State Road Bridge was built in 1948 and has become in disrepair in recent years and will be replaced with construction slated for June and completion in October. There are federal and state dollars in place to do the project with a very minimum local match. The engineer’s estimate was 1.4-million dollars, and the project was awarded to RG Zachrich Construction Inc. for just under 1.2 million dollars. Commissioners say it’s important to get this project completed.

75-year-old Jay Notz of Wisconsin was heading east when his semi went off the left side of the road and drove into the median. The semi struck a guardrail, a concrete culvert, and a bridge pillar for the Lincoln Highway overpass. Notz was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The roadway was closed for crash clean-up and to inspect the bridge for any damage. 30 was reopened early Monday morning.
