Celina Lions Club recently donated $5,000 to be used for the construction of a new shelter house adjacent to the ADA fishing dock on the west bank of Grand Lake St. Marys.
DELPHOS, OH (WLIO) - The city of Delphos celebrated the 4th with a 2-day festival put on by the Kiwanis Club.
The American Township Fire Department and police are investigating an early morning fire that destroyed a playground in the Laurel Oaks subdivision. Firefighters were called to the playground around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The rubber mulch and the plastic playground equipment were destroyed in the blaze. Fire officials say there is no electricity that runs to the playground, so they are calling the fire suspicious. The playground is owned by the Laurel Oaks Neighborhood Association.
Members of the Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District, as well as people from the community, were seen at Deep Cut Park on Thursday for the opening of a brand new shelter house. This is the first shelter that the park district has added that not only has air conditioning but heating too. Community member Steve Roebuck donated the money to the park district to be able to build the shelter and memorialized the building to his parents, giving it the name of the Lee and Ruby Roebuck Shelter.
Stadium Park and the Delphos Kiwanis invited the community to check out the new shelter house facilities that were opened in June. Delphos Swimming Pool patrons now have access to updated handicap accessible restrooms and changing rooms, as well as a new lifeguard station and concession stand with an added window to let park goers enjoy the food without going into the pool. It is the first update to the facility has since the last building was completed in 1941, and it is one that has been very welcomed by the community.
