Delphos Kiwanis Club shows families a good time and raises money with 4th of July celebration

DELPHOS, OH (WLIO) - The city of Delphos celebrated the 4th with a 2-day festival put on by the Kiwanis Club.

From Wednesday through Thursday, Stadium Park was full of amusement rides, carnival games, fair food, and live music. The Kiwanis Club has around 40 members, but they say it took over 100 volunteers to plan and run the festival.

The several-year tradition is both a way for the club to help their community have a fun 4th of July and a way to raise money to continue giving back to Delphos in other ways. This year's funds will go towards building a new shelter house at Stadium Park.

"The mission of Kiwanis is to serve the children of the world, and we want to serve those children starting right at home. To serve the Delphos community, we've installed all of the playgrounds in Delphos; we've put in a new splash pad, a new pool house," added Cindy Metzger, the Delphos Kiwanis Club treasurer.

Each year's festival wraps up with one of the largest fireworks shows in the area.
