There were plenty of fun times and smiling faces Friday in Downtown St. Marys as residents enjoy a local festival staple! The 2024 St. Marys SummerFest continued with festival goers enjoying classic Midwest fair food, live music, and plenty of carnival-style rides and games for families. The schedule on Friday also featured sidewalk sales for the shops in Downtown St. Marys along the with ArtFest Juried Art Show and competitive pickleball tournaments. No matter which avenue of fun one partakes, festival organizers say this tradition is beneficial for and loved by the community.

The St. Gerard Festival has been a tradition in Lima since 1979, and this weekend it will enter its 44th year. The Catholic community has prided itself on bringing together Lima for the annual festival, which includes live entertainment, rides and games, raffles, and what many regard as 'the best chicken in Lima'. The festival has had record years in fundraisers and attendance the last two years, but those numbers don't happen without the hard work and dedication of those who make the festival happen. Vendors, musicians, ride workers, and helpful volunteers are just some of the people who help operate the festival.
